WHAT’S NEW AT ROBA?
Postponed is not cancelled: After some events had to be cancelled in the past years due to the pandemic, the joint knowledge and personal communication between Roba and Heitkamp Industrial Solutions employees could now be deepened.
In pleasant weather, Roba employees showed their colleagues from Essen what Roba is all about: Pipeline construction at its best.
With a lot of know-how, the Roba technicians answered questions about material classes, quantities, weights, welding technologies and projects.
We have compiled some impressions of the pipeline construction production.
We would be happy to answer your questions, too!

Soon after the takeover of Roba Industrial Piping by Heitkamp Industrial Solutions, the first order was placed under the new management.
The company Holzhauer-Pumpen GmbH placed an order for the prefabrication of pipeline spools with Roba Industrial Piping in November 2021. For the prefabrication of these spools, different steel grades (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel) up to DN 600 with partly large wall thicknesses were used. The total volume of piping to be supplied amounts to approx. 10 tons.
This interesting project involves the expansion of one of Germany's largest tank farms for mineral oil and petrochemical products. This tank storage has a total capacity of 174,000 m³ distributed over 64 tanks. The pipelines of Roba and the aggregates of Holzhauer-Pumpen GmbH are used for securing the supply of the stationary foaming and sprinkling systems within the tank storage. Four identical diesel fire pumps, each with a capacity of 18,500 l/min (approx. 1,100 m³/h) at a delivery pressure of 12 - 14 bar, provide the necessary extinguishing water supply.
We would like to thank the company Holzhauer-Pumpen GmbH for the good cooperation.

ROBA Piping Projects GmbH is now called Roba Industrial Piping GmbH and is a 100% subsidiary of Heitkamp Industrial Solutions GmbH from Essen.
On 1 October the official start was made: At a first staff meeting there was an opportunity to get to know each other. As the two companies Heitkamp Industrial Solutions and Roba complement each other very well in many aspects, we are looking forward to entering the future in this new constellation and to growing together.

We congratulate Taner Tokak and Mustafa Kaymakci (not in the picture) on successfully passing their exams to become warehouse logistics specialists!
We are also very happy about our two new trainees who have already started their training as metal technology specialists with us.
On the picture from left: Georg Hellwig (training manager), Gabriel Morgenroth, Taner Tokak, Erik Strebel and Andreas Klein (managing director).

On the occasion of our 30th company anniversary, we have recorded the impressions of our party in a small slideshow. The atmosphere was great and the party went on until late in the evening. We would like to thank all our customers, partners, employees and friends for the good and long-lasting cooperation.
We would also like to thank all those involved for their support during the preparations for the event and the joint anniversary celebration.
Here's to the next 30 years!

At the Berufswegekompass in Miltenberg - ROBA was there for the first time with a booth. And of course we came up with something special. With our table football on the booth, the interest in our apprenticeship professions was correspondingly high.
Everyone was eager to get down to business, not only playing table football, but also answering the many questions.
We were overwhelmed by the great response and would like to thank everyone for it!

Thinking long-term - counteracting the shortage of skilled workers - securing economic power -> future perspective positive!
Through qualified training, we not only secure our professional skilled workers, but also strengthen our important business location in the Bavarian Lower Main. We integrate our young trainees into our family team from day one. After a solid basic training, ROBA goes parallel to "training on the job" without neglecting school matters. This is the basic prerequisite for a successful start to a professional career ... that this is the right path is confirmed time and again by our budding experts.

On 22 January, we took part for the first time in the Enterprise Day at the Parzival Middle School in Amorbach. Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., our training manager Georg Hellwig and managing director Andreas Klein answered the questions of 60 8th and 10th grade students. The pupils' questions revolved around the topic of training in particular. We were able to convey which products and services we offer and, above all, which professions one can learn with us.
For a few years now, the Parzival School in Amorbach has been pursuing a very comprehensive concept to bring pupils into contact with the world of work. The company day is the annual kick-off event. A total of 16 companies were present. We are very happy to be part of this network. On 20 February, we will have the opportunity to present our company and our apprenticeships in more detail at the secondary school.
Our main focus is on training as a metal technology specialist or plant mechanic. We still have two apprenticeship positions available for the start of training in September 2019.
We look forward to receiving your application!

On our traditional Christmas party in the Salztrög Stuben, there was a special programme item this year. Several employees were honoured and received gifts from the two managing directors Andreas Klein and Matthias Volz. For the presents, the ROBA bosses considered the personal habits and tastes of 'their' employees, who underlined the special connection to the staff.
The jubilarians between the two managing directors: happy about more than 25 years of service: Astrid Klein, Ronald Selzer (missing on the picture), Steffen Schädlich and Frank Wetzel; for at least 20 years: Jochen Lörcher (missing on the picture) and Ivan Mikulic; for more than 15 years of service Senol Zagli and Holger Menzel were honoured; for more than 10 years Sascha Tenberg and Andreas Schmutzler have been members of the ROBA team.
The management would like to thank the employees once again for their service, commitment, and loyalty to our company, and looks forward to a continued good and harmonious cooperation and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

For the strategic realignment of our company, we also revised our entire image together with our new partner agency ID Marketing-Services. The new corporate design translates the potentials and strengths of our brand as a future-oriented solution provider and makes our corporate culture more perceptible to customers and employees - technically and yet emotionally.
To this end, we use classic and modern communication disciplines - for growth and sustainability.

In 2016, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) launched a consultation process for a new (7th) energy research program as part of the changed energy sourcing strategy in Germany.
To this end, 2017 working groups were formed from members of the industry as well as research institutes with the aim of proposing future research directions.
ROBA is represented in a working group focusing on "Integration and Storage". The expectation horizon lies on new approaches that have a creative, innovative and competitive research and development focus.

The existing knowledge and the production capabilities from ROBA are being expanded to deliver components and complete modules for the area of renewable energies. Especially pipe systems (spools), heat exchangers and energy storage systems, the new focus concentrates on the design and engineering of new products as well. Therefore ROBA supports proactive research groups.
To reach these aims, ROBA introduced Mr. Burkhard Behrendt who is a very experienced specialist in this field of business.
Business Unit Manager Renewable Energy, Dipl.-Ing. Burkhard Behrendt introduces himself
My name is Burkhard Behrendt. I am 57 years old and have been working as a development engineer for more than 20 years in the field of mechanical and plant engineering, including seven years in the field of solar process heat in the high temperature range.
During this time, I was able to build up very profound knowledge and contacts to develop facilities through numerous projects in the field of renewable energies.
I am now working to install this experience at ROBA to build up the Renewable Energies sector and to establish ROBA in this business field as a competent specialist and a reliable partner and supplier.
In the following I have put together some projects which I have carried out:
- Project management for the planning, construction, production as well as construction and test operation for a small test tower plant with a heliostat field. The project was successfully completed in cooperation with DLR (German Aerospace Center, Solar Research).
- Further intensive cooperation with DLR led to the design of a plant part at a solar tower in the course of a research project.
- Studies on the topic of heat storage and construction of a heat storage tank
- A feasibility study for an energy transport system with heat storage in a solar tower was developed.
- Conceptual design of a vertical wind turbine in the form of a Darrieus Rotor to provide electrical energy. Designed for decentralized energy supply on industrial halls for on-roof mounting.
I am looking forward to many new contacts and interesting projects with you!
Dipl.-Ing. Burkhard Behrendt
Business Unit Manager Renewable Energy

Since May 2017 ROBA piping projects GmbH is a member of the industry association DSCP. DCSP is an abbreviation for German Concentrated Solar Power (www.deutsche-csp.com). This opens up ROBA access to the market of concentrating solar energy. DSCP merges the skills to develop successful projects.
We are looking forward to the collaboration with DCSP!
